DESCRIPTION:You are invited to our kirtan and vegetarian potluck! \nKirtan is a part of Bhakti Yoga\, the Yoga of Devotion. It is a heart-opening musical experience with irresistibly sanctifying power. \nSeabury’s kirtans are easy to follow\, traditional Hindu devotional chants in classic call & response patterns. \nMulti-instrumentalist Seabury spent 2 years in India studying classical Hindustani & Karnatic music. He studied Indian ragas with master teachers such as Ali Akbar Khan\, GS Sachdev & Dr K Subramaniam. Seabury sings & plays guitar\, bansuri bamboo flute. He is a music teacher for both adults and children. \nDrummer Colby has been a devoted disciple of tabla master Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri for a decade and has been studying percussion since 1997. Colby is a music teacher of tabla and other percussion. \nThere is a basket for donations to support our community’s musicians. Sliding scale $10–$20 (cash). Seabury Gould (vocals\, guitar) and Colby Beers (tabla) will lead us in a simple\, beautiful session of chanting\, where everyone is invited to sing along in a call-and-response style. \nKirtan is a form of Bhakti Yoga—the yoga of devotion. It’s a wonderful way to come together\, relax\, and tap into a deep sense of community and connection through music and mantra. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve sung Kirtan before\, it’s a space where everyone can join in\, no matter your experience. \nAfter the Kirtan\, we’ll share a vegetarian potluck and enjoy a slideshow of India\, bringing a little more of that culture into the mix.
