Stories and ecstatic poetry by today’s most widely-read poet, the Sufi mystic Jalaluddin Rumi, a journey into sacred words and music, and the heart and soul of the world’s most God-intoxicated poet. With Dan Furst as Rumi; Seabury Gould, bamboo flute & bouzouki; Olof Soderback, violin; Marco Zonka, percussion & voice; and Mary Flowers, Sufi dancer.
In this vivid montage of Rumi poetry and stories, the life, levity and luminosity of Rumi comes alive, as award-winning actor Dan Furst embodies the poet in translations from Coleman Barks, Kabir Helminski and Jonathan Star. With sound and moodscape by musicians Seabury Gould and Marco Zonka and a guest appearance by “whirling dervish” Mary Flowers, an atmosphere of earthy and ecstatic passion and reflection is evoked through dramatic action, verse and song.
