Storytelling

“There is a deep-seated need in the human spirit to tell stories, to hear stories, to share stories.” (Steve Sanfield)

“People are hungry for stories. It’s part of our very being. Storytelling is a form of history, of immortality too. It goes from one generation to another.” (Studs Terkel)

“The first function of mythology… is to waken a sense of awe, wonder and participation in the inscrutable mystery of being.” (Joseph Campbell)

Black Elk was asked, “Are these stories true?” and replied, “Well I don’t know if they happened exactly that way, but if you listen to them long enough, you will hear how they are true.”
