Crested Hens perform Celtic tunes and Visionary songs, including original music, on Friday October 21 at Gallagher’s Irish pub from 5:30–8:30 p.m. at 139 2nd St. in Old Town Eureka. Admission is free.
The duo Crested Hens are Seabury Gould on guitar, bouzouki, flute and vocals, and Liz Thompson on cello.
This performance will have the theme of Halloween/Samhain. Halloween had its beginnings in Samhain, an ancient pre-Christian Celtic festival of the dead, also a harvest festival. In old Irish, “samhain” meant “summer’s end”.
Eclectic musician Seabury Gould is a multi-instrumentalist, recording artist and music teacher who has been a significant presence in the local Irish/Folk music scene since 2003. Liz Thompson is known for her expressive and exhilarating Celtic cello playing, influenced by the dazzling cello playing of Natalie Haas.
Together, Crested Hens play Celtic music with spirit, imagination and unwavering respect for the rich traditions from which it springs.
